Founder, Anne Black, Ph.D.
Dr. Anne Black holds a doctoral degree in community psychology and thanatology (death, dying and grieving), a master’s degree in education, and is certified in the expressive arts. Additionally, she served as an adjunct faculty member at several institutions of higher learning.
In 1990 Dr. Black co-founded The Center for Creative Healing and its signature initiative, The HEALS Program, which provided a model for use in bereavement and death crisis. This non-profit trained facilitators to assist children, teachers, parents and community members addressing and processing experiences of traumatic loss.
In 2008 Anne experienced an epiphany. She felt called to serve men and women wounded in a mental, spiritual and moral way, as a consequence of their service in the armed forces.
TWC is the beneficiary of Dr. Black’s compassion, wisdom and remarkable communicative and professional training. She has fully enlisted all her gifts to being a warrior for wounded warriors. Anne’s desire is to bring Veterans home—and whole—back into their deepest selves.
Anne’s life also delights in her Vermont surroundings, her physical and spiritual fitness, traveling to be with her grown children, and entering grandson Cyrus’ world of play and imagination.
